Hapi the Scribe

Explore the capture ↓

The photographed gallery label identifies Hapi as a scribe associated with Karnak and describes him holding a papyrus. The label is blurred, so the record does not reconstruct the missing wording or assert a precise dynasty.

THE RECORD BEHIND THE OBJECT

A surface.
A photograph.
A point of view.

What the capture shows +

The gallery label is only partly readable in the capture photograph, so the description here stays short rather than filling the gaps by guesswork.

Capture and processing +

32 raw images from a single session at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization on 19 August 2026, processed with Apple's PhotogrammetrySession (RealityKit) into a watertight textured mesh of 50,026 faces at 4096px. The archival file is 25 MB; the copy that turns in this viewer is the same geometry at 2.6 MB, mesh-compressed with a JPEG texture for the web.

IDENTIFICATION & EVIDENCE

Historical sources & uncertainty

The history above is attributed to the photographed gallery label. It is separate from the project’s capture and processing metadata; no museum accession number has been verified.

  • Photographed gallery label, “Hapi the Scribe”

Project source photograph IMG_ARKit_420394564.heic; original retained in the capture archive. Description paraphrased after checking the photograph, not copied from OCR.

  • NMEC — Scribe Statue (Hapi) ↗

Museum catalogue entry for Hapi, administrator of Amun temples. The entry supplies a 19th Dynasty attribution; matching its illustration to this capture is still pending, so that precise date is not adopted here.

AA numbers identify ArchaeoArchive records; they are not museum accession numbers. Capture dates describe photography, not the age of the object. Historical references do not certify scale, capture permission or academic review.

File provenance: these downloads are the ArchaeoArchive website release. A separate Commons file page ↗ records that upload’s version, author and licence. Check the file page when reusing its download; versions and licences must not be assumed identical. Historical-source links do not grant reuse rights in third-party material.
